Palestinian women are constantly coming up with creative new arts; growing with traditions and creating new ones. For instance, women’s cooperatives have started using recycled glass in their craft. Instead of throwing away glass bottles, they collect them and make lovely shapes out of them. It is indeed innovative.
Let’s provide you with further detail on how they actually make this art from the recycled glass. They take those bottles (of different colors) and cut them in shapes. Then, they solder the pieces together making the shapes they wish.
They have different items ranging from nativity scenes, angels, candle holders, to many other creative designs. And that’s how one man’s waste becomes another man’s treasure.
One of the women’s groups working with recycled glass is the Rishmawi Sister from Beit Sahour.
