On Saturday the 14th of May, Bethlehem Fair Trade Artisans has organized an event to celebrate the Fair Trade progress in Palestine. The event was attended by civil society representatives, government officials, and representatives from the international organizations. The event included activities such as local handicraft market, folklore dance, human chain, food and music. Almost 400 people attended. The event focused on demonstrating the creative capabilities and the work of female producers, and disabled groups. The purpose of the event was to raise awareness on Fair Trade (FT), and to increase public’s engagement with the FT movement. A number of government official, including the Palestinian Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, the Governor of Bethlehem, and the Mayor have attended the event. They all celebrated and commended the work of Fair Trade in Palestine, especially its role in empowering the most marginalized groups.
